AppClear privacy policy
Effective 18 October 2026 · developed by xdev143 at xone.build
AppClear helps you uninstall apps and remove selected leftovers on your PC. It reads installed-app information, file paths and selected files and registry entries locally. These can contain usernames, preferences, licence details or personal files.
AppClear does not require an account and has no built-in analytics or telemetry. It does not automatically send scans, history, diagnostics or backups to the developer.
Your settings, saved selections, operation history, error diagnostics and recovery backups are stored locally in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Xone\AppClear. History and diagnostics can contain app names, file paths, uninstall commands, timestamps and error details. Backups contain the files and registry entries selected for recovery.
For supported cleanup backups that need protected recovery, AppClear also saves a small verification record in %PROGRAMDATA%\AppClear-PrivilegedRecovery-v1. Each contains your Windows account identifier, a recovery identifier, the type of backup and a verification code. It does not contain the backed-up file contents or registry values and is not sent to the developer. AppClear uses it to verify protected recovery on the same PC and Windows account. Starting a publisher's uninstaller with administrator access does not itself create this kind of backup or record.
These protected records remain when you delete a completed backup in AppClear or uninstall AppClear. They have no automatic expiry. Removing a record requires administrator permissions and prevents AppClear from restoring the corresponding protected backup. Keep the records while you need those backups.
You choose what to remove. You can export records and backups to a location you select, and delete completed backups in AppClear. Other local records remain until you delete them; removing AppClear does not automatically remove this data. If you export to a cloud-synced folder, that service may sync the files under its own policies.
Website and email links, app uninstallers and package managers open external programs or services. Their privacy policies apply. Windows restore points are managed separately by Windows.
If you contact support, information you choose to include is used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending personal files, licence keys or other sensitive information.
